Cheryl Thayer
Veteran Service Coordinator
Cheryl is a retired U.S. Army Veteran who served from 1976 to 2006. After her military career, she continued her dedication to service through a federal role with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Viera, Florida. With decades of experience on both sides of the uniform, Cheryl brings deep insight and compassion to every Veteran she works with.
She and her husband—also an Army Veteran and former UH-1H crew chief—have been married for 26 years and share a loving home with their daughter, two stepsons, four dogs, and two cats. A lifelong animal lover, Cheryl finds peace and joy in the companionship of her pets: Katie, Zoey, Dax, RIP, and feline friends Sheldon and Peyton Manning.
Outside of her work and love for animals, Cheryl is a bit of an adrenaline junkie—she’s passionate about race cars and can often be found at the Lebanon I-44 Speedway, soaking in the speed, sounds, and energy of the track.
Cheryl’s passion for helping Veterans is deeply personal. She understands the visible and invisible challenges many face and sees every opportunity to help as a way to honor their service. For her, it's about ensuring no Veteran ever feels forgotten.
