Each year on September 11th, our nation pauses to remember the lives lost during the terrorist attacks of 2001. We honor the nearly 3,000 men and women who died that day, the families who still carry their loss, and the courage of the first responders and service members who answered the call in the weeks, months, and years that followed.
Patriot Day is more than a date in history—it is a reminder of the resilience of our nation and the sacrifices made by those who serve.

From 9/11 to Today: A Legacy of Service
For many veterans, September 11th was not just a day of tragedy, but a turning point that shaped their future. Thousands felt called to serve in the military in response to the attacks, leading to decades of deployments in Iraq, Afghanistan, and around the world.
That service came with a cost. Many veterans returned home with visible and invisible wounds—injuries, chronic health conditions, and mental health challenges that affect daily life and the ability to work.
How VA Disability Ratings Play a Role
One way our nation continues to honor that sacrifice is through the VA disability benefits system. VA ratings provide:
Monthly, tax-free compensation to help offset the impact of service-connected conditions.
Healthcare access for ongoing treatment and recovery.
Additional support for families, education, and vocational rehab.
While no benefit can erase the burden of service-related injuries, VA ratings are a way of ensuring that those who stepped forward to defend our country are not left behind.
Patriot Day and Our Ongoing Responsibility
As we reflect on September 11th, it’s important not only to remember those we lost, but also to support those who continue to carry the weight of service. Patriot Day calls us to honor with action—by making sure veterans get the care, recognition, and benefits they’ve earned.
How We Can Help
At United Veteran Benefits Agency, we are committed to helping veterans navigate the VA system and secure the disability rating they deserve. If you or someone you know is struggling with service-connected conditions, know that help is available.
